TAIMA is one of the Five Yamato school. Yamato Province is modern Nara Prefecture.
Yamato sword smiths have prospered since the first Emperor Jimmu in Yamato Province.
Many historical capitals have been established in Yamato Province.
After that, he moved to Kyoto during the time of Emperor Kanmu, and Yamato sword smiths, who had run out of funds, also moved to Kyoto.
In the Heian period, the emperor at that time promoted Buddhist policy.
As a result, Yamato Province became the center of Buddhism in Japan, and monks became soldiers at each temple in order to protect Buddhism.
The Taima school is said to have belonged to the "Taima" temple, which is also the origin of the name.
Taima Founder
TAIMA KUNIYUKI founded the Taima school around 1288.
His work is also designated as a national treasure of Japan.
He is said to have emigrated from Yamashiro to Yamato and founded this school.
Therefore, it inherits the Yamashiro-style sword-making method.
