Nagasone KOTETSU is one of the most famous sword and it is known as the best of the Shinto swords(After the around Keicho era 1596-).
His clan was made armor for generations.
When he turned 50, He moved to Edo from Echizen and began to make Japanese swords.
At the beginning of his career, he made armor, but later turned to sword smith.
Kotetsu is told in numerous biographies and legends.

POINT

He has earned the title of SAIJYO OOWAZAMONO(最上大業物) because the sharpness of the Japanese sword he makes is the best.
However, his sword was so famous from that time that many Fake swords were created.
One example is the story of Isami Kondo, the director of the "Shinsengumi" who was active at the end of the Edo period. The KOTETSU he was using is probably a fake.
